History & Ethos

The club was established in January 2006 by Jordan Brookes, who decided that after 8 years of coaching & managing a variety of junior and senior teams, that the time was right for him to realise his dream, running his own football club.

Jordan is half way through a degree in coaching and sports development, he is a qualified and accredited FA coach and has a natural gift with children. His credentials have been gained over a  7 year period, working in communities with junior soccer teams.  He decided to develop a club in the Hale/Altrincham area and base it at Bowdon Cricket and Hockey Club, on South Downs Road, Bowdon, near Hale Village. Jordan had been coaching children on Saturday mornings and during soccer camps at Bowdon Club since the early part of 2003.

Jordan says,

“one of the major reasons for setting up the club, was that, even though it is rewarding to see a player learn and get a basic grasp of the game and then make the transition into a junior team, it is also frustrating at the same time”

he explained

"I not only want to see a player develop from the age of 3 to 6 , but to coach and take them right through the football system from grass routes to under 16’s".

This ambition is now realised with Hale United having been launched six months ago and with well over 100 players registered between the age of 4 and 16 years. The club is itself registered with several leagues in the South Manchester area and will be competing in multiple age groups this season. Not all age groups have a full squad of players yet, so league entry was not possible in all age categories for the season 2006/7. However, this is a new club, with highly motivated management and coaches, fantastic kids and willing parents, so it is only a mater of time before the club has teams playing league football in all age groups. In the interim, tournaments will provide the vehicle for the kids to play match football if they are not playing in a league.

The club not only has many young stars of the future registered as players, but also has a crop of young coaches with the potential to become outstanding coaches in years to come. Jordan believes his coaching staff have a super manner with the children, which he regards as a valuable asset that will assist greatly in the development of the players and the club.

He goes further to say,

"I do not believe in coaches standing on the pitch and screaming at kids with commands or giving them too much information, the children should be handed options on the pitch, I do not want them to be robots, we should let them develop in their own time and personal style".

Nick Morley, one of Jordan's closest friends, has accepted an offer to be Chairman of the club, this role will be vital in the development process.

Jordan said,

"even though Nick is new to the football world, he is massively important to the club, working with the players and coaches and helping drive the club forward - Nick has a different approach as he’s learning all the time, this brings a fresh perspective and gives me a valuable sounding board".

Jordan feels that the future success of the club will largely come from all the outstanding children we have as players and their friendly, approachable parents.

Lastly Jordan would like to thank everyone from players to parents who have supported him and his team of coaches so far. Without you there would be no Club and I thank you all for your loyalty and commitment.
